The truth is we learn to love. The truth is we need to watch someone point out the moon so we can find it beautiful until we no longer need someone to look up for us to see. The truth is we need to have someone turn up the radio until we learn to find the songs on our own. The truth is that we need to read words before we can write them. The truth is we need to be taken to the ocean before we can swim. And our hands are held until we can walk and the words are spoken until we can speak and if that is the case then I want to learn it all. I want to learn from everyone and everything about how to love the things I don’t know. I want you to teach me how to play the chords on that old guitar and how to walk on the edge of the wire the moments life seems so thin. Because life gets thin. And when I feel my words are mundane I want to learn to write them anyway even if I hide them in a box underneath my bed and I want to learn to sometimes share them even if my lips tremble. Because sometimes I’m afraid. But we learn by watching someone else’s paper shake. And I think if we get to meet or witness people who make us better then we’re the lucky ones, even if its not forever.
